PIR-eNGO Programs:
The eNGO program is a joint effort of Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) and Public Interest Registry (PIR) to enable the use of ICT in the grassroots organisations using free website, domain and capacity building through the eNGO training programs. Around 200 Organisations have registered under the eNGO programme till December, 2011. More than 100 of them are online and 8 workshops have been completed so far.

Wireless for Communities:
DEF and ISOC (The Internet Society) have jointly launched a project called “Wireless for Communities” (W4C) that aims to provide a holistic, community-empowered approach to connecting rural communities to the Internet. The objective of the project is to train rural youths, students in the deployment and operation of Wireless Mess Networks.

This submission is by the DEF and the APC (Association for Progressive Communication) regarding the human rights, internet rights and making the internet an effective tool to access right to information in India. DEF believes that the internet plays a major role in accessing information and thus a tool for social and economic development.

Chanderiyaan- CWIRC:
Chanderi Weavers ICT Resource Centre (CWIRC) is a Community Information Resource Center set up by DEF in early 2009 as a cluster network for Chanderi weavers that fuses technology with traditional skills and facilitates the process of value addition at all levels. The production of readymade garments and other utility items benefit the weavers in more ways than one
