Under this phase-I stage of the project, DEF & ISOC implemented the project in Chanderi region of Madhya Pradesh. At its first phase of the project, the W4C project has already been operational in Chanderi for about a year, and has enhanced its activities at DEF’s erstwhile centre, known as “Chanderi Weavers Information Resource Centre (CWIRC)”.
Though the centre had already been connected with Internet earlier, and people were undergoing training programmes at the centre, after the deployment of the wireless network, trainers are now also delivering training programmes, and there is a significant improvement on access and efficiency that achieved through highly dependable internet access through wireless networking.

To expand the reach of W4C project in South Asian countries and conduct two wireless training programmes
To organise the W4C Summit in order to share the experiences of the second phase of the project on the occasion of the Manthan Award 2011
